Google helps launch Forest Carbon Tracking portal


Untitled document The portal for viewing data and maps of the international GEO Forest Carbon Tracking (FCT) Task was recently launched and can now be viewed on-line at www.geo-fct.org
Untitled document The portal allows users to visualize the FCT National Demonstrators, the relevant Validation Sites and the inventory of the coordinated acquisitions of satellite and in-situ data; maps and information resulting from the processing of the data will also be posted here when available. A three-minute video describing the portal is also available.

Google developed and contributed the portal, for more information see Google’s blog.

The advanced radar land cover map for Borneo developed by the Wageningen University – SarVision team is already available for viewing at: http://sites.google.com/a/geo-fct.org/k-c-palsar-borneo-map/

The WUR-SarVision team is a dedicated member of the GEO Forest Carbon Tracking task team, an international collaboration aiming to develop and implement a consistent and reliable global carbon monitoring system based on national subsystems.
