SarVision's work on deforestation monitoring featured extensively in an item on a recent Greenpeace campaign targeting Nestlé and palm oil suppliers.

While other issues remain hotly debated in Copenhagen, there is widespread agreement and support for initiatives on reducing deforestation. Solid forest monitoring is widely considered a key necessity.

Unilever, one of the world's largest food companies, has suspended a supply contract with a large Indonesian oil palm plantation company. Deforestation maps developed by SarVision played a critical role in this decision.

The portal for viewing data and maps of the international GEO Forest Carbon Tracking (FCT) Task was recently launched and can now be viewed on-line at www.geo-fct.org

SarVision is part of the technical consortium that will support the European Commission to develop practical measures for the implementation of the European biofuel sustainability scheme.
