Google lanches Earth Engine in Cancun


Untitled document Google.org has launched Earth Engine at the UN climate conference in Cancun. The Wageningen University-SarVision team contributes large-area radar land cover mapping expertise to the initiative.

Google now provides free access to Landsat satellite imagery and tools to help analyze and interpret these images to detect changes to natural resources such as deforestation. The Wageningen team currently contributes to testing the Earth Engine API. Additional radar satellite analysis techniques are tested as clouds and haze limit the use of landsat-type sensors in wet tropical regions.
