Monitoring Systems

SarVision excels in the development of long-term operational land cover monitoring systems, with a focus on tropical forest land cover types. Such a system, often based on more than one (satellite) remote sensing technique, allows to create timely, up-to-date and consistent land cover, land cover change, forest and deforestation map series.

SarVision has developed land cover and forest monitoring systems at 3 levels: medium, high, and very high resolution.

  • The medium resolution system is suitable for monitoring and mapping at regional scale level, and delivers details from 1000 up to 50 meters.

  • The high resolution system is tailored to the national to provincial scale level, and gives details of 20-30 meters.

  • The very high resolution system is suitable for local surveillance and allows details up to 1 meter to be visible.

All systems can use a combination of different remote sensing techniques, such as optical and radar, to ensure a cloudfree view and timely map update of the area of interest.
